As the long summer days slip away, we may feel the chill of autumn creeping in but that doesn’t mean that we can’t enjoy it. Living in Edmonton comes with its unique perks, one of which is the vast sky that seems to stretch endlessly. Coupled with that is the stunning autumn which is truly the most beautiful I’ve ever witnessed.

There’s something wonderfully soothing about the sound of leaves gently falling to the ground. Can this moment just last forever? ♾️

Recommendation / BIRDKING

While 82 Ave may not be the prettiest street in the city but it has an undeniable vibe that draws you in. If you’re a fan of historic buildings infused with youthful energy, this is the place for you. The street is alive with art galleries, music shops, cozy cafés, vibrant restaurants, and of course comic book stores.

I recently visited Warp One Comic and Games and couldn't resist picking up these two. Birdking is an original epic adventure by author Daniel Freeman and illustrator Crom. This comic has received high praise, and I can see why! Bianca, teenage apprentice to an infamous arcane blacksmith is forced to flee her homeland after which she is joined by a mysterious guardian spirit. Do I have to say more?! Can’t wait to buy volume 3. It’s a must-read for anyone who loves immersive storytelling and stunning visuals. 🔥

I Love Love

It’s 5:30 pm and I just wrapped up a tattoo session. With only 90 minutes until sunset, 60 to be exact, I need to be fast. The clock is ticking, I’ve got a half-hour drive ahead of me. Traffic isn’t going to be on my side!

As I cruise along, I’m listening to Banks, trying to get into the right headspace (yeah I listen to pop music as well). I’ve never really thought of myself as a photographer, but here I am, on my way to a photo shoot. With my friends but still a photo shoot. It’s funny how even at 39 I find myself almost every week saying: “Oh, this is the first time I’m doing this”.

I’m there, Maddie and Sam are waiting for me..

First question: ‘What should we do?”

-Let’s just start by wandering around and don’t worry too much, we are gonna find some cool spot. Whatever we do I’ll probably hate every single photo except the last 3 for some reason (I kept that bit to myself).

I was nervous about messing things up but it turns out that I love taking photos, what a surprise 😅 I had so much fun with them….and no, I don’t hate my photos…

Edmonton Summer / Film Photos

There’s something truly fascinating about film photography. Just the idea that you have a roll of sensitive film inside your camera, waiting to steal moments. Light hits part of the roll and that creates photos “Magical” is not strong enough word. The simplest way to dive into analog photography is with a compact point-and-shoot camera. Just grab a roll of film, and you’re ready to go!
One of the buying options is Kodak Ektar H35 half-frame camera. With this little guy you can take not just 36 photos from a roll, but 72 smaller images! Don’t let the photo size fool you, the joy of shooting remains completely intact. It’s not the best camera with the sharpest lens by any means but it does have to be. This camera is meant to be your pocket companion, always ready to capture spontaneous moments.
It’s so lightweight and compact that suddenly your phone feels heavy and bulky in comparison. The photos you see here were taken with my sage Kodak Ektar and some expired Fujicolor film. Each shot carries a bit of nostalgia and charm that digital just can’t replicate.

Doing My Part

Couple of months ago I heard one sentence while listening to The Verge podcast. Since then, the idea lives in my head rent free and It goes something like this: “We are going to revolutionize the media with blog posts”. I really love that and I want to do my part.
Social media geography is changing and it feels scary when some of the platforms were our home for years, and now some of them are just gone. Some of them are locking features behind paywalls and ghosting our posts. Having website is more important than ever. its crucial to have place for your own work and ideas that no one can intervene and take .

Like I said, I really love that idea and I want to do my part🐸

DAY OFF

When you have a tight schedule and you don’t have a lot free time every second counts. Don't get me wrong I love tattooing, I would go that far and say: I live and breathe tattooing. But that doesn't mean that I don't love and enjoy other things like photography, drawing, writing, working out, singing in the band...

With these glimpse of my life I wanted to bring you even closer❤️

DOCUMENTING

As you noticed on start, I spend my free days walking around and taking photos. Last two years black and white was how I shoot. This summer I wanted to switch it up a bit and have some fun. For taking these photos I used my FujiFim XE 4, Fujinon XF 27mm pancake lanse, and “Vintage Analog“ Fujifilm recipes from FUJI X WEEKLY website. Hope you will enjoy them.
